O meia-atacante argentino Agustín Allione, que pertence ao Palmeiras até julho de 2020, acertou a rescisão de seu contrato de empréstimo com o Bahia, que terminaria em dezembro. Ele está a caminho do Racing (ARG).

O clube argentino ainda negocia com o Palmeiras os últimos termos do empréstimo, que deverá ter um ano de duração e valor fixado para compra. Allione é desejo antigo do técnico Eduardo Coudet, que tenta levá-lo de volta à Argentina desde os tempos em que comandava o Rosario Central.

Ao ceder Allione para o Bahia no início deste ano, o Palmeiras conseguiu a preferência de compra pelo meia Zé Rafael: se o clube nordestino receber uma proposta pelo jogador de 25 anos, os paulistas terão a possibilidade de cobrir. Como o Tricolor Baiano receberá uma compensação financeira pela liberação antecipada de Allione, esta cláusula não deve ser modificada.

Allione chegou ao Palmeiras em 2014, vindo do Vélez Sarsfield (ARG). Ele foi emprestado ao Bahia em 2017, chegou a retornar ao Palestra Itália para a pré-temporada de 2018, e logo foi cedido novamente ao Tricolor. Ele vinha sendo reserva com Enderson Moreira e nem foi utilizado nas partidas após a parada da Copa.

Entrou apenas no fim da vitória sobre Senegal e já ficou fora do jogo contra a Inglaterra, pelas oitavas de final, por conta da lesão. Ele deve voltar na segunda metade de agosto ao Verdão.

Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, has said that there were “solid reasons” for the removal of Shahid Afridi as ODI captain but that he will reveal those reasons at a later date.Afridi was replaced by Misbah-ul-Haq last week, after leading Pakistan in back-to-back ODI series against New Zealand and West Indies, and to a last-four finish in the World Cup. The board has not given an official reason for the removal, though it is believed to be the result of growing differences Afridi had with coach Waqar Younis, in particular over matters of selection.On his return from the Caribbean, Afridi referred to the situation with Waqar, saying, “Although the differences in team management are not such which could not be solved, I feel everyone should do his job and need not interfere in other’s work”. That led to the board issuing him a showcause notice to explain his remarks, and presumably formed part of the reasons for his removal. Subsequently Afridi decided to pull out of the two ODIs against Ireland; speculation has been that he is unhappy over his removal but he has said it is because his father is unwell.Removing Afridi meant that Butt has now presided over nine changes in the Test and ODI captaincy during his tenure as chairman, a period of less than three years. But Butt insisted in an interview with the leading Urdu daily Jang that he was justified in making the change.”We had very solid reasons to remove Afridi and I will reveal them when the time is right,” Butt said. “We haven’t taken this action without any reasons.”Butt did indicate that there had been a breach of discipline on Afridi’s part, though it is not yet clear whether he was referring to the comments Afridi made on his return, or to separate incidents on tour. Tensions between Waqar and Afridi are reported to have risen considerably in some team selection meetings, with Intikhab Alam, the team manager, having to play peace broker.The on-tour management’s report has been handed in to the board, according to Butt, and details will emerge after the team returns from Ireland, when the board will also deal with the issue of Afridi’s showcause notice. “We know Afridi won two series and that is why we didn’t act then [during the tour]. We couldn’t do anything more during that tour. Right now anything more I say will cause more tensions. Everything will come to light soon.”Meanwhile, Waqar refused to speculate on Afridi’s future role within the side. “I have got no idea about that,” Waqar said. “It is the board’s decision what they want to do about the captaincy. My job is to look after the team and to deliver the goods.”Waqar also denied reports he had fallen out with Afridi. “It was the papers that made all this,” he said. “There is nothing in it.”

وأضاف: “يريد هذان العملاقان في كرة القدم أن يتم وضعهما ضمن عظماء اللعبة، لأنهما بالطبع كانا محبطين طيلة فترة كأس العالم، ما يمكنهما فعله الآن هو تذكير الجميع في كرة القدم بما يمتلكانه من قدرات فنية رائعة”.

The rescheduled one-day leg of West Indies’ tour of Sri Lanka got off to a futile start as heavy rain in Colombo forced the abandonment of the first ODI at the SSC. The series had been postponed from December because bad weather had ruined the Test series but the move has had little effect.Before it began to rain during the lunch break, Adrian Barath scored his maiden ODI century and his partnership with Ramnaresh Sarwan drove West Indies to a competitive total. Their efforts at posting a strong score, however, were undone by lack of contributions from their team-mates and Lasith Malinga’s death-over burst, which weakened the platform that had been laid for the acceleration.The overcast day in Colombo began badly for West Indies when Chris Gayle nicked Nuwan Kulasekara’s outswinger in the fourth over, depriving the innings of a potentially rapid start on a placid pitch. Barath and Darren Bravo consolidated and saw off the new ball without further damage. Their partnership was promising when a mix-up ended with Bravo being run out for 8, leaving West Indies 42 for 2. Bravo had backed up too far at the non-striker’s end and failed to beat Kapugedera’s return from midwicket at the bowler’s end.Sarwan, who was making a comeback to the team after being omitted from the original tour party to Sri Lanka last year, had a point to prove and he did it in some style. Barath and Sarwan steadied the innings, scoring at a healthy pace and rendering Muttiah Muralitharan wicketless during his ten-over spell. Barath was lucky to be let off on 54, when he played uppishly to an Ajantha Mendis delivery and Mahela Jayawardene managed to get his hand to the ball but could not catch it. Otherwise his innings was without blemish. He struck two sixes and eight fours during his 113 off 129 balls, while Sarwan took 100 deliveries to score 75.West Indies took the batting Powerplay in the 44th over and the recent international trend of wickets falling during the fielding restrictions continued. Both Barath and Sarwan fell to Malinga in the first over of the Powerplay and Kieron Pollard followed soon. Malinga had both well-set batsmen caught at wide long-on by Chamara Kapugedera as they tried to take him on, and bowled Kieron Pollard with a well-disguised, slow inswinger. He had ripped out three wickets for three runs off eight balls and West Indies managed only 27 off the Powerplay.It was left to Darren Sammy to strike a couple of boundaries and provide the late momentum. The weather, however, wiped out any possibility of play after lunch, frustrating both teams.

After winning the Europa League with LaLiga outfit Villarreal last season, the Argentine defender has once again played a key role under former Arsenal boss Unai Emery, helping guide the Yellow Submarines to an impressive semi-final run in the Champions League.

The 24-year-old was sold by chairman Daniel Levy and co for a measly £13m in the summer and with Spurs’ differing defensive issues throughout the campaign, that is now looking to be a costly – and gutting – mistake.

Due to a lack of quality options, manager Antonio Conte has often turned to full-back Ben Davies to line up in his back three, alongside Eric Dier and Cristian Romero, whilst injuries and inconsistencies at right-back saw the position emerge as something of a priority in January amid links to Wolves’ Adama Traore.

Crystal Palace will once again be without right-back Joel Ward on Saturday afternoon as the Eagles host relegation battlers Burnley at Selhurst Park.

What’s the latest?

According to Palace manager Patrick Vieira, the 32-year-old will once again be absent for the South London club on Saturday, alongside Nathan Ferguson. The Frenchman said: “Two players not in the squad will be Nathan Ferguson and Joel Ward. All the other players are fit and can be in the squad.”

However, the 45-year-old admitted that Ward’s injury is “just a groin issue” and “hopefully he will be back training next week.”

The Englishman hasn’t featured since the goalless draw away at Brentford on 12 February, missing the 1-0 defeat at home to Chelsea last Saturday and the 4-1 victory away at Watford on Wednesday evening.

Vieira will be fuming

Despite their league position, Burnley go into Saturday’s match as one of the top-flight’s most in-form sides and will certainly pose a threat for Crystal Palace.

The Clarets have lost just one of their last six league outings, with that defeat being a 1-0 loss to Liverpool, winning their last two matches 3-0 at Brighton and 1-0 against Tottenham.

Sean Dyche’s side’s recent positive run has seriously boosted their survival chances, with the Lancashire outfit two points from safety in 18th whilst having a game in hand on 17th placed Newcastle as well as two on 19th Watford and three on bottom side Norwich City.

Flirtation with the relegation zone before the end of the season seems extremely unlikely for Vieira’s side and instead, they should be targeting a top-half finish.

The Eagles are four points off of tenth in 11th place, although the games in hand of sides near them in the table doesn’t offer any favours.

Therefore, Saturday’s meeting is certainly important for the South Londoners, who will certainly be dented by the absence of Ward who has been a kingpin for the French manager, starting 23 of Palace’s 26 league games this season.

However, there will still be plenty of experience on the right-hand side of defence in Ward’s place, with 30-year-old Nathaniel Clyne set to start his third successive league match in place of his fellow countryman.

Although he’s been limited to just six first-team appearances so far this season, the right-back boasts bags of experience and is a decent backup option.

It’s why Vieira will be fuming at seeing Ward miss out once again.

Sem folga no Carnaval, o Vasco fez na manhã desta terça-feira, no Complexo Esportivo de São Januário, o último treinamento antes do jogo de ida da terceira fase da Conmebol Libertadores, diante do Jorge Wilstermann, da Bolívia, programado para a noite desta quarta-feira em São Januário. Na atividade, o técnico Zé Ricardo definiu o substituto de seu único desfalque na partida: será Paulão que entrará no lugar do suspenso Erazo.

– É claro que, quando há uma troca, tem um pequeno ajuste. Mas pode até ser positivo, porque estávamos jogando com dois canhotos na zaga. Não me preocupo, porque o Paulão é muito adaptado ao clube, foi muito bem no ano passado. Ele manteve um nível de atuação muito legal – afirmou o treinador em entrevista coletiva já no início da tarde.

O Vasco deve entrar em campo com Martin Silva, Yago Pikachu, Paulão, Ricardo e Henrique; Leandro Desábato, Wellington, Evander e Wagner; Andrés Ríos e Paulinho. Na atividade desta terça-feira, o foco de Zé Ricardo foi no trabalho técnico, aprimorando a bola parada em situações de cobrança de pênalti e de falta com barreira. Contratado na semana passada por empréstimo junto ao Corinthians até o fim do ano, Giovanni ficou ao lado dos reservas na atividade desta terça-feira por não ter condições de jogo para a Libertadores – o Cruz-Maltino poderá inscrevê-lo na competição somente se chegar à fase de grupos, passando pelo Jorge Wilstermann.
