Manchester United icon Patrice Evra makes a bold statement on Instagram

[ad_pod ]

We are now into the final days of the 2019 summer transfer window for all the Premier League teams and things could still be looking to heat up immensely.

On Thursday at 5pm, all the deals that haven’t been concluded will have to either be scrapped or pushed back for January, so the teams are working hard to get as much over the line as possible.

[ad_pod ]

With all of that in mind, Patrice Evra, Manchester United’s icon, has taken to social media and

/B03MUqUnpQ0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link” data-lasso->Instagram to share a bold message to all the agents of the footballing world.

Evra boldly proclaimed how Manchester United are no one’s bank and that only the players who respect the badge and are dying to win trophies with the Red Devils are free to join the club.

This was most likely aimed at players who are seemingly just trying to get into the team for the money, and the ones that don’t really want to be there for the right reasons.

Be that as it may, United still have until tomorrow to conclude all and any possible deals coming either in our out of the club.

It remains to be seen whether they are done with their business or not.

Leeds fans should be excited as Noel Whelan makes Mateusz Bogusz prediction

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Pundit View series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent quotes from journalists, pundits, players and managers…

Noel Whelan has told Football Insider that 17-year-old Leeds United talent Mateusz Bogusz has a “big part” to play for the Championship club next season, and it should be an exciting update for many Whites fans who have already been raving about him.

What did he say?

Well, the teenager has been one of the Yorkshire outfit’s standout men in pre-season so far, scoring a brilliant goal in the 2-1 win against the Western Sydney Wanderers and earning a 7/10 rating from the Yorkshire Evening Post in the process.

Now Whelan claims that while the youngster has impressed in friendly matches, he has the ability to make the step up in England’s second tier in 2019/20.

The 44-year-old told Football Insider: “He’s been a midfield player who’s been quietly coming through the ranks and showing extreme quality. He’s a player who can step up to the mark in the Championship this season.

“He’s a real prospect for the future and I think he might have a big part to play this campaign.”

Exciting times

They certainly are.

Bogusz may be yet to make his competitive debut for Leeds, but he is already showing glimpses that he is ready to make that step considering the technique and quality he has shown on the ball in recent weeks.

Many Whites supporters on Twitter have certainly been impressed with what they have seen from the young Pole recently, with some tipping him for the top.

Those fans in particular will be especially pleased should the 17-year-old make the step up from August onwards, and there will be a hope that he can follow in the footsteps of the likes of Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton who made the jump so successfully last term – the former even earned a move to Tottenham Hotspur while the latter made 24 appearances.

Watch fans explain why the Football League is better than the Premier League in the video below…

The Yorkshire club could do with another attacking midfield player to compete with the likes of Mateusz Klich and Tyler Roberts now Samu Saiz has left on a permanent basis, and Bogusz may just be the man to do it.

A big season awaits Leeds United, but it could be a huge one for one of their biggest young talents, too.

Celtic fans enjoyed their first glimpse of Christopher Jullien on Saturday

[ad_pod ]

Celtic summer signing Christopher Jullien had his first taste of football in Glasgow on Saturday and fans were pleased with his display.

The Hoops were hosting French Cup winners Rennes in friendly action, with Neil Lennon’s side continuing their preparations for the season ahead.

Watch a tribute to Celtic’s late Lisbon Lion and greatest ever captain, Billy McNeill in the video below…

The fixture was sandwiched between the two-leg UEFA Champions League qualifying tie against FK Sarajevo, so it proved to be a good opportunity for Lennon to utilise some of his fringe players and give recent arrivals like Jullien and Luca Connell their first minutes in a Celtic shirt.

Jullien signed for a reported £7m from Ligue 1 side Toulouse in June, an expensive transfer by Scottish Premiership standards.

There’s a bit of pressure on the 6 foot 5 centre-back to perform with the Hoops needing someone who can fill in for Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic in defence, both of whom left at the end of last season.

Supporters think he looks the part already, taking to Twitter during and after the match to share their thoughts on his display in Saturday’s 0-0 draw…

West Ham fans left unimpressed by Jack Wilshere’s rallying cry

[ad_pod ]

West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere has insisted that the Hammers will move on quickly from their 5-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

It was far from an ideal start to the season for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who will be looking to put things right when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

Wilshere has claimed that the City game is now gone and the team are fully focused on their trip to Brighton on Saturday.

However, the midfielder’s words have not exactly gone down terrifically well with the West Ham fans, who have heard it all before.

Interviews where footballers apologise to the fans and vow to move on quickly have become rife on social media in recent years.

And it would be fair to say that the London club’s supporters want a performance this weekend rather than potentially empty words in the build-up.

Arsenal need Raul Sanllehi to bolster revenue from player sales

[ad_pod ]

Last Tuesday the final part of the jigsaw in Arsenal’s development of a new football infrastructure was completed.

Well, so Raul Sanllehi claimed anyway.

The Gunners marked their first full week back in pre-season training with the announcement that Edu would take on a role as technical director of the club, overseeing a whole host of matters from the first team through to the academy and in terms of scouting and recruitment.

It seems a large role to take on but should, at last, finally see a greater focus on the things that Arsenal perhaps haven’t been so good at in recent years.

And one of those matters has indeed been recruitment, something that could specifically be a struggle this summer.

Armed with an apparent budget of just £45m, they’ve been snapping at the heels of Crystal Palace in a bid to snatch Wilfried Zaha away from their tight grasp.

Whether that goes through, however, could depend on player sales.

But that again is an area where Arsenal have been caught out and it’ll be up to their new football infrastructure to improve that significantly.

Watch Arsenal Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

However, it has to be this summer. Not next summer when the club could be left even further behind by their rivals.

Why? Because Arsenal need the funds.

If the Islington outfit are to ever compete at the level they did for so many years at the turn of the millennium, they will need to invest.

Stan Kroenke at board level hasn’t helped a huge amount and seems to be more intent on buying land in America than he does in helping Arsenal.

Sanllehi can help turn the tide, though. He may not be able to invest his money, but by negotiating the right deals for those that could perhaps leave the club, it could be game-changing.

Those outgoings will have to be sold for a higher price than previous members of the squad have been, however.

In the last couple of years, the Gunners have not only been a bit of a shambles in terms of their recruitment, but their ability to sell players is also extremely questionable.

For all the individuals that have come and gone, only one of them has fetched a price of over £20m.

Out the door went Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for £35m whilst Alexis Sanchez, whose contract was running down, moved on for no fee in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Arsenal have been at the mercy of other clubs for too long and some of the other fees on the list of their last ten sales are remarkable for all the wrong reasons.

Wojciech Szczesny only fetched £10m despite being Gianluigi Buffon’s successor at Juventus whilst Francis Coquelin was sold for a pretty measly £12m.

What’s also striking are the deals for Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud. The latter was named as the best target man in the world by Eden Hazard whilst the former, being homegrown, could have commanded a higher transfer fee too.

And this is where Arsenal have been going wrong. In recent transfer windows clubs around the Premier League have signed arguably inferior players for larger fees.

To put things into context, Liverpool sold Danny Ings for £20m this summer, a player with one cap to his name compared to Walcott’s 47. The Reds were also able to move on Dominic Solanke in January for £19m.

Bournemouth were meanwhile able to sell Tyrone Mings for £20m, something that provides another example of the types of deals you can conclude if you push hard enough.

That is the sign of a club who knows what they’re doing in the market. Arsenal, on the other hand, do not.

More recently, they only sold Lucas Perez for £4m, taking a considerable hit on the £17m they initially paid. Meanwhile, they only sold the 98-cap David Ospina for £3.1m. Rather more irrelevant outgoings included Chuba Akpom and Joel Campbell.

Those sales had less of an impact but it’s a demonstration that the Gunners do need to change.

Calum Chambers has been linked with a €14m (£12.5m) move to Lazio this summer. Considering they paid £16m for him that would be quite frankly awful business, especially if Mings is worth £20m in today’s market.

After all, he is a player who won Fulham’s Player of the Season. Albeit that was in a relegated side but he’s actually proven himself in the top-flight. Mings, who has only played 17 Premier League games, ten of which were starts, hasn’t.

Therefore, if Arsenal are going to have any chance of securing Zaha and then going onto compete at a higher level, Sanllehi will have to ensure they wise up in the transfer market.

Before signings can even be considered, the Gunners need to ensure they’re not caving into the demands of opposing clubs too easily.

In short, Arsenal’s director of football has to make a significant change this summer and enhance the club’s ability to negotiate lucrative player sales.

Spurs fans in love with new kits

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans are in love with the club’s new kits.

Spurs released their strips for the 2019/20 season on Thursday via a series of tweets.

Made by Nike, the home strip obviously retains the iconic white, while also looking to honour the club’s motto of “To dare is to do”.

The away kit is a blue number with a pattern in the top half and a white AIA sponsorship and Spurs badge; the home kit has a red AIA logo.

The club have yet to announce the release of their third kit after last season’s green effort became iconic, as it was worn in the club’s phenomenal comeback victory over Ajax in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.

Despite that, fans are thrilled with the kits already released as the 2019/20 season looms.

Spurs will first wear their kits in pre-season, with games against Juventus and Manchester United looming.

Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shares Instagram snap with Robert Lewandowski

[ad_pod ]

Arsenal’s first big challenge of the 2019 summer pre-season tour was navigated rather successfully.

The Gunners faced German giants Bayern Munich and managed to win the game 2-1, a victory that should serve to boost morale at the club.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played quite a big role in their performance despite not being on the score sheet as the speedy forward caused all sorts of trouble for the opposition.

Still, a strike from Eddie Nketiah and Louis Poznanski’s own goal made sure Robert Lewandowski’s header didn’t salvage a draw for Bayern.

After the game, Aubameyang shared a brilliant

/B0DFYyxnbRW/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link” data-lasso->Instagram snap with his ex-teammate and good friend.

The tandem played together at Borussia Dortmund before their big moves.

Lewandowski ended up donning Bayern’s kit while Aubameyang moved to north London.

Still, that short period they’ve spent together was seemingly enough for a great friendship to emerge.

Aubameyang simply captioned the snap with “happy to see your my brother” and followed it up with some emojis and tagging Lewandowski in the process.

Liverpool stand-in goalkeeper Adrian’s most worrying Premier League moments

[long_read]

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that first-choice goalkeeper Alisson will be out “for the next few weeks” following the injury he suffered against Norwich City on Friday night, with recent arrival Adrian set to step in for the foreseeable future.

The Reds only brought the Spaniard to Anfield last week on a free transfer, but he didn’t have to wait long to make his debut as replaced his Brazilian teammate 39 minutes in against the Canaries.

While that was the former West Ham United stopper’s 126th Premier League appearance meaning he has plenty of top flight experience, he has had his fair share of dodgy moments of the years, which could be worrying for a club chasing the title.

Here are three examples…

[snack_break title=”Stoke blunder leads to Bojan goal”]

West Ham looked to be on their way to three points at home to Stoke City in 2016 following a second-half own goal from Glenn Whelan, but a moment of madness from Adrian allowed the Potters to snatch a point.

The Spaniard raced out of his area to try and stop a cross from Jon Walters, but as well as failing to prevent that and also bringing the attacker down, Bojan was on hand to score the equaliser.

Manager at the time Slaven Bilic said post-match: “It’s a mistake by Adrian”.

[snack_break title=”Firmino has time for a no-look finish after Adrian error”]

The Irons found themselves 2-0 at Anfield approaching the hour-mark, at a point where the next goal was always going to be crucial.

Unfortunately for the visitors, a mistake by Adrian gifted Jurgen Klopp’s men a third goal, with striker Roberto Firmino even having enough time to produce a no-look finish into the net.

Another day to forget for the stopper, who picked up a 4/10 rating from Football London.

[snack_break title=”Concedes four, should have done better with Ki shot”]

Just a week after the Anfield error, Adrian once again lined up between the sticks for the trip to south Wales to face Swansea – but the result was exactly the same.

The goalkeeper may have been less at fault than the previous away trip despite conceding four goals, but he should have done a lot better from Ki Sung-yueng’s opener for the Swans.

It was hardly well-hit from outside the penalty area as you can see here, but it still beat Adrian’s out-stretched arm to nestle in the bottom corner.

For the second successsive week, it was a 4/10 rating for the stopper from Football London.

Birmingham City: Kerim Mrabti wanted by European sides

Birmingham City midfielder Kerim Mrabti is wanted by European clubs, including Hamburg and Braga, according to The Birmingham Mail.

[ad_pod ]

The 25-year-old joined from Allsvenskan outfit Djurgarden in January, signing an 18-month contract, as per Transfermarkt.

The Swedish player is not said to be pushing for a move away from St. Andrew’s before the European transfer deadline of 2nd September.

Mrabti started six games for Birmingham last season, coming off the bench for another six and scored one goal, as per WhoScored.

While Birmingham haven’t seen that much of him, there have been signs that he could be an asset for the club with a good all-round game.

Last season, he played 1.2 key passes per game while also making 1.5 tackles, 0.4 interceptions and 0.6 clearances per game on average. With Jota, Che Adams and Connor Mahoney no longer at the club, that leaves Mrabti’s average for key passes as the highest in Birmingham’s squad.

The midfielder has only had two minutes of game time for Birmingham in their three games this season, which came at the end of the 2-0 win against Brentford – missing the other two matches through injury.

Birmingham should not let Mrabti leave, even if he hasn’t played much of a role for the club yet.

There were glimpses last season that he can be an effective player in blue and with the transfer deadline having come for the Championship, the club would be unable to bring in a replacement for him.

This means it is worth being patient enough to allow the midfielder to return from injury and show the impact he can have in a Birmingham shirt.

Birmingham fans, should the club keep hold of Mrabti? Tell us what you think in the comment section below!
