Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge believes former Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho was right in his stance on Dele Alli.

The Lowdown: Alli not Mourinho’s favourite

Mourinho was clearly a fan of Alli’s talent, calling him “one of the world’s best” early on his reign as Spurs manager (The Independent).

However, towards the end of the Portuguese’s tenure, it was clear Mourinho did no trust the England international. In 18 months, the 25-year-old made just 34 starts (Transfermarkt), and his criticism of the midfielder’s application in training was on show in Amazon’s All or Nothing series.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Bridge backed Mourinho’s stance on Alli. He said:

“You could even look at it like this. Mourinho didn’t even have him in the squad last season, and everyone was like ‘Mourinho always picks on one player, Dele is the one, poor Dele Alli’ and I’ve got to be honest with you, I was one of those.

“But maybe he was right, maybe he needs a move. He did so much as a youngster at 19 coming in from MK Dons. He has a phenomenal goalscoring record for Tottenham and something is not working.”

The Verdict: Not the player he was

There is no doubt Alli is not the player he was when he first broke onto the scene at Tottenham. In his first two Premier League campaigns at the club, he found the back of the net 28 times – in the four years since, that number has fallen to 23 (all in all, he has found the back of the net 67 times throughout his time in north London).

He still has plenty of years left ahead of him to improve, but is seems unlikely that he will be able to make that impact at Spurs despite being called “excellent” by Ryan Mason in May.

After stagnating, a fresh start could be exactly what he needs to kickstart his career and find the form that saw him play in a World Cup semi-final.

Jesse Ryder can be a pretty flashy batsman in one-day cricket. He usually opens with Brendon McCullum in limited-overs cricket, and looks to blast the bowling from the first over on. On the first day of the Hamilton Test, both showed that they are capable of much more.Vettori gets to play very little for Northern Districts, his state side, due to his international commitments, but last year when he did, he opened for them in the Twenty20s. Given how he played today, he could just as well have opened in the Tests. Ryder, meanwhile, showed today he is capable of a perfect Test-match innings, batting in a composed manner with wickets falling around him. His captain was suitably impressed: “They [the people who think he is one-dimensional] haven’t quite seen the subtleties of his game.”When the two came together today, they had to keep alive a Test match, and perhaps a series. At 60 for 6, there was a fairly good chance of New Zealand being bowled out for less than 100 on a pitch that would ease out after the first session. Three boundaries in three overs in the middle of the innings highlighted that ability. First, Munaf was driven wide of mid-on; in the next over he drove straight and again beat the same fielder. Then, he reached out for a drive against Harbhajan Singh, found the delivery too wide, and rolled the wrists on it, keeping the ball along the ground and beating the point fielder.By the time Vettori had got out, he had scored a century that only vindicates his batting potential. But there was unfinished business for Ryder. A superb season so far needed a defining milestone, one that would confirm his coming of age. Ryder’s century didn’t come without drama. From 77 to 98 he moved in Iain O’Brien’s company, and scored the next four in the unreliable company of Chris Martin.He reached the century with a short-arm pull, with a spread-out field, showing how strong those wrists and forearms are. Herschelle Gibbs has escaped being charged with drunken driving and has accepted 100 hours of community service as part of an agreement with state prosecutors.Gibbs, who was clearly relieved as he left Cape Town Magistrates Court, was arrested a year ago. He has since attended a rehabilitation centre to try to overcome his drinking issues.His lawyer told reporters the charges were withdrawn following representations made to the court. These included his willingness to become involved in a sporting development programme for children.”Herschelle has undergone rehabilitation and has spent a month in a clinic over Christmas,” his lawyer said. “He’s following that programme very well and he’s agreed to get involved with Brad Bing and Sporting Chance as part of community service over the next few years. Sporting Chance develops youth in sport.”Herschelle gets involved with kids and he’s going to be a great role model.”Gibbs can still be prosecuted for the offence if he fails to adhere to strict conditions imposed by the court.

– Foi uma transferência exótica. Kazim não é um nome que os fãs de futebol ingleses conhecem tão bem. Ele rodou por muitos clubes e jogou mais fora da Inglaterra do que aqui. Mas ele é um bom jogador, venceu competições na Grécia, na Turquia, até jogou pela seleção da Turquia. According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via FC Inter 1908), AC Milan are now getting ready to lose their leading midfielder, with his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

It’s thought that the Ivory Coast international has decreased his yearly salary demands from €8m (£6.7m) to around €7m (£5.9m) but is unlikely to go any lower given the coveted interest in his signature.

Spurs are likely to battle European giants Paris Saint-Germain, Premier League rivals Liverpool and fellow Serie A side Juventus for Kessie. They’ll need to offer him an attractive contract if they are to stand a chance of securing him.

Reinforcements in the engine room could well be required as Lilywhites boss Nuno Santo still does not know his best midfield, having rotated between several names.

One player who remains present is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg but he’s been joined by a host of other teammates like Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli and Giovani Lo Celso.

Kessie would offer the Portuguese a threat at either end of the pitch, something which perhaps none of the aforementioned first-teamers can currently do.

In the opposition’s box, the 6-foot enforcer has proven to be a goalscoring threat, having bagged 14 goals last season – only Zlatan Ibrahimovic found the net more times for Milan.

Whilst he also averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.2 dribbles per Serie A game, meaning he could trackback, defend well and then launch counter-attacks with his ball-holding ability to good effect.

It’s a skill set that has previously been described as “devastating” by former Milan frontman Antonio Cassano and “extraordinary” by former head coach Vincenzo Montella.

Just imagine this sort of presence in behind a genuine creative midfielder, perhaps Bryan Gil, who is set to achieve big things in north London. Kessie is just 24, so Nuno could have an exciting looking midfield for several years to come.

What makes a potential swoop even sweeter for Fabio Paratici is the fact that he’d be landing a £36m-rated player for a bargain fee in January or for nothing in the summer. An absolute masterstroke of a decision if he can pull it off.

وقال سامي خلال تصريحات عبر برنامج “جمهور التالتة” عبر قناة “أون تايم سبورتس1”: “لن أقف أمام طموح أي لاعب سواء كان شادي حسين أو مصطفى ميسي، حتى لو وقعوا للأهلي التوقيع ليس له قيمة في حال عدم موافقة إدارة سيراميكا”.

وأضاف: “ولكني لا أتمسك بلاعب يريد أن يرحل ويكون لديه طموح جديد، سنتعاقد مع غيره وسيكون لديه طموح أيضًا”.

وعن مستوى حسام حسن مع الأهلي في الوقت الحالي، أوضح: “حسام انضم للأهلي وهو هداف الدوري، لكن ما يتردد أن أي لاعب عندما يذهب للأهلي يتأثر بسبب الضغط هذا (كلام إنشا)، الفكرة في مساعدة المدرب للاعب فنيًا، حسام حسن قُتل فنيًا في عهد موسيماني، ولو كان الأخير استمر لم يكن اللاعب سيشارك، اللاعب لم يكن يُشارك وطبيعي عندما يشارك فلن يؤدي كما كان في السابق”.

وأكمل: “حسام حسن من المهاجمين الثقال في مصر، أنا أعرفه منذ وقت أن كان لاعبًا في الجيش، اللاعب يحتاج المساعدة في التدريبات وعلى مستوى المشاركات”.

Nesta terça-feira, na reapresentação do elenco depois da derrota para o Bahia, que manteve o clube na zona de rebaixamento do Campeonato Brasileiro, Dorival Júnior já esboçou o São Paulo que deve enfrentar o Cruzeiro neste domingo, no Morumbi. As novidades são o lateral-direito Buffarini, o meia Thomaz e o atacante Brenner, além de Rodrigo Caio, que volta de suspensão.

De acordo com a atividade, a formação que entrará em campo pela manhã no Dia dos Pais será a seguinte: Renan Ribeiro; Buffarini, Arboleda, Rodrigo Caio e Edimar;Jucilei, Petros, Hernanes, Thomaz e Brenner; Pratto.

O técnico tinha prometido mudanças, mas, na prática, quem sai do time por opção é Marcinho, atacante que tem sido bastante criticado pela torcida e tende a ser trocado por Brenner, de 17 anos. Na retaguarda, promoveu a já esperada volta de Rodrigo Caio, que estava suspenso, no lugar de Militão, titular na derrota em Salvador. Durante o treino, o zagueiro Aderllan, que ainda busca melhora física para estrear, sofreu pancada e saiu mais cedo.

Na atividade desta tarde, além dos lesionados, o treinador também não pôde contar com Júnior Tavares. O lateral-esquerdo já está recuperado das dores por conta de um edema na coxa direita e até entrou em campo nos minutos finais do jogo de domingo, mas foi liberado pelo clube nesta terça-feira para participar de uma audiência particular. Já o atacante Denilson, que não viajou por indisposição clínica, treinou normalmente.

Com 19 pontos somados em 19 rodadas, o São Paulo terminou o primeiro turno na zona de rebaixamento – ocupa a 17ª colocação. Vem de derrotas consecutivas para Coritiba e Bahia, rivais diretos na briga contra o rebaixamento, e volta a campo às 11h de domingo, recebendo o Cruzeiro, no Morumbi.
