An Old Firm with little riding on it? Celtic may have lost their grasp on the SPFL title but that was never going to be the case at Parkhead on Sunday.

Indeed, this was a fantastic opportunity for the Hoops to deny their rivals of an unbeaten campaign.

The Bhoys have been shocking this season and after watching their title slip away to Rangers, this was the only sense of pride they could regain.

For the most part, Celtic were the better side. They created plenty of openings in the first half and if it wasn’t for Allan McGregor, they’d have taken home all three points.

The score ultimately finished 1-1 as Celtic dropped yet more points. It wasn’t a first Old Firm as a manager to savour for John Kennedy, but nor was it a good afternoon for Jonjoe Kenny.

This was an Old Firm initiation for the young defender but he failed it, slipping up defensively and looking out of sorts from an offensive point of view.

McGregor may well have denied the Bhoys victory but it was Kenny who arguably cost them the game.

Celtic were seemingly cruising through the first half when a huge lapse in concentration ruined their day. Kenny was in possession of the ball when he played a bizarre back pass that went out of play for a corner.

The set-piece was ultimately one that Alfredo Morelos scored from and again Kenny was at fault. The Everton loanee lost his marker and then failed to track him to the back post. It left the Rangers striker with a tap in he couldn’t miss.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Pat Bonner said: “Jonjoe Kenny played that passback with no control when he didn’t even need to which led to the corner. Balogun out jumps everyone and no one follows Morelos. After dominating the game it’s another set-piece that undoes Celtic.”

This was nothing short of a nightmare display from the 24-year-old. He lost possession of the ball on 17 occasions, more than any other Hoops player including Ryan Christie, while he completed just 80% of his passes.

Celtic’s right-hand side was virtually non-existent with Christie providing little threat either. However, he did at least provide two key passes, something Kenny didn’t produce any of.

Offensively he was particularly mediocre. Against Dundee United, the full-back regularly got forward and proved a constant threat. However, this Sunday he didn’t show much, registering just one accurate cross from three attempts.

This was a dismal outing and one that let Kennedy down significantly.

In a recent interview, Leeds United centre-back, Robin Koch, jokingly called for Erling Haaland to join Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Since joining Leeds from SC Freiburg last August, life has not got off to the best of starts for Koch at Elland Road, with the defender being sidelined for a considerable amount of his debut Premier League season due to a knee injury.

However, the £15.3 million-rated 24-year-old’s lack of game time for Leeds does not appear to have put him off shopping the club about, as, in a recent interview with SportBild (via Sport Witness), the Germany international jokingly called for Borussia Dortmund centre-forward, Erling Haaland, to join him at Elland Road.

Speaking about Manchester City’s upcoming Champions League clash with Dortmund, Koch said: “City’s defence has improved, but Erling Haaland can also push a ball in against City. Haaland has the killer instinct and the Champions League seems to give him a lot of joy.

“With his stature, this body, he would be made for this! I think the Premier League is a perfect fit for Haaland. Maybe he will stay in Dortmund for another year or two and then come to us in Leeds [grins].”

While Leeds’ improvement as a club under the leadership of Bielsa has been rather remarkable, perhaps the signing of a player such as the £141,000-per-week Haaland still remains slightly out of the club’s reach, for now.

Having said that, with the striker’s father, Alf-Inge, having played for the Whites in his time as a professional footballer, perhaps, along with the comments of Koch, Haaland could be convinced of a move to Elland Road at some point in the future.

Although, it would not be advisable for fans of Leeds to hold their breath while they wait to find out.

كشف مدحت المليجي سفير مصر في الكاميرون عن آخر الاستعدادات لبعثة المنتخب الوطني قبل مواجهة السودان ضمن منافسات كأس أمم إفريقيا 2021.

منتخب مصر يواجه نظيره السودان في ختام مباريات المجموعة الرابعة بدور المجموعات لبطولة كأس أمم إفريقيا المُقامة بالكاميرون.

وقال مدحت المليجي في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “etc”: “تقام مباراة مصر والسودان على ملعب أحمدو أهيدجو، ويتحرك المنتخب من فندق الإقامة في تمام الساعة الخامسة مساءً، وتم التنسيق مع الجهاز المعني لتسهيل تحرك المنتخب وتأمينه، حيث أن هذا التوقيت هو موعد خروج الموظفين في ياوندي”.

وأكمل: “منتخب مصر سعيد وراضٍ عن فندق الإقامة في ياوندي، هو أفضل من فندق الإقامة بجاروا، وتم سحب مسحة للمنتخب الوطني وجاءت نتيجتها سلبية لجميع أفراد المنتخب الذي أدى تدريبه، واللاعبون تميزوا بالحماس والجدية وكارلوس كيروش المدير الفني يحاول إدارة الأمور بمنتهى الهدوء، وطلب التدريب على ملعب مغلق للحفاظ على سرية الخطة”.

O Flamengo divulgou uma nota oficial nesta quarta-feira para esclarecer que não vai solicitar carga de 10% dos ingressos disponíveis nos jogo contra o Vitória, neste sábado, contra o Palmeiras, na próxima quarta, e contra o São Paulo, no dia 1º de outubro. Isso por conta dapunição imposta pelo Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD).

Um dos motivos do comunicado rubro-negro é se posicionar sobre uma confusão em relação à venda de ingressos para visitantes feita pelo Vitória, para o jogo no Barradão, no próximo sábado. Tanto o Leão quanto a Federação de Futebol Baiana entenderam que o Flamengo começaria a cumprir a punição de ficar sem torcida como visitante a partir da partida contra o Palmeiras. No entanto, para o Fla, a pena já começa no próximo jogo, contra os baianos. O Rubro-Negro carioca disse que enviou um ofício ao Vitória informando essa posição.

Na nota, o Flamengo destaca que enviou um ofício ao Vitória informando que abriria mão da carga de ingressos que tinha direito na partida, por conta da punição que sofreu. Porém, o clube baiano já confeccionou os ingressos e inclusive já vendeu todos.

O Flamengo diz que a responsabilidade em garantir a segurança dos torcedores é do Vitória. Até mesmo dos flamenguistas decidiram comprar os ingressos.

– O Flamengo ressalta ainda que, baseado nas determinações do Estatuto do Torcedor, a organização das partidas é de inteira responsabilidade do clube mandante, que deve tomar providencias para garantir a segurança dos torcedores, inclusive os do Flamengo que decidirem comprar ingressos e comparecer às partidas na qual o Flamengo é visitante.

O Flamengo recebeu punições do STJD por conta da briga dos seus torcedores com os do Palmeiras, na partida entre os clubes no Mané Garrincha, no primeiro turno do Brasileirão. As penas do Fla foram:três jogos sem direito a torcida visitante;três partidas como mandante sem 20% da carga do estádio e torcida organizada;10 jogos sem qualquer representação de torcidas organizadas (faixas, camisas, bandeiras etc); multa de R$ 30 mil.

O Clube de Regatas do Flamengo esclarece que devido à punição imposta pelo Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD), não exercerá o direito de solicitar carga de 10% dos ingressos disponíveis nos jogo contra o Esporte Clube Vitória, neste sábado (10), contra a Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, na próxima quarta-feira (14), e contra o São Paulo Futebol Clube, no dia 1º de outubro.

O Clube de Regatas do Flamengo enviou ofício ao Esporte Clube Vitória reforçando esta posição, em cumprimento à determinação do STJD. Da mesma forma, encaminhará solicitação à Associação das Torcidas Organizadas do Flamengo (ATORFLA) para que informe a seus associados que, também de acordo com decisão tomada pelo Tribunal, está proibida, pelo STJD, de comparecer aos estádios nos três jogos acima citados e, além disso, nas próximas 10 partidas do Flamengo como mandante, será proibido o ingresso de torcedores portando faixas, cartazes, bandeiras, camisetas, blusas, calças, bonés e outros utensílios tais como instrumentos musicais, que façam alusão à qualquer torcida organizada do Flamengo.

O Flamengo ressalta ainda que, baseado nas determinações do Estatuto do Torcedor, a organização das partidas é de inteira responsabilidade do clube mandante, que deve tomar providencias para garantir a segurança dos torcedores, inclusive os do Flamengo que decidirem comprar ingressos e comparecer às partidas na qual o Flamengo é visitante.

Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard has been linked with numerous clubs since the start of the current campaign.

Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus reportedly joined the race for the Frenchman towards the end of 2020, with Arsenal, Aston Villa and Leicester City also keen on the 23-year-old.

Surprise Edouard twist; Celtic stance revealed

Reports earlier this month even claimed that the Foxes were closing in on a £15m deal for the Celtic star, however, Eurosport have now provided an update on the player’s future.

They claim that despite all the rumours, there is actually little concrete interest in Edouard, with an expected tussle for his services not yet materialising. The report name checks Leicester as seeing Edouard as a potential option for their front line in the future, though.

Eurosport also add that Celtic are not looking to sell the striker and won’t be disheartened by the lack of firm interest.

With interested clubs reportedly not convinced Edouard is worth £20m, the Hoops could be in for an interesting summer.

The forward’s deal will have just 12 months left to run during the summer window, so should he remain at the club and refuse to sign a new deal, Celtic could end up losing the player for nothing in 2022.

There’s plenty of time to go until we get to that stage, but at the minute, it doesn’t appear as if the Hoops will receive a fee above the £20m mark.

وعلق موسيماني في حواره مع صحيفة “نيويورك تايمز” الأمريكية عن سبب ابتعاده وابتعاد الكثير من المدربين الذين يحققون نتائج جيدة عن جوائز الأفضل في العالم، وقال: “ليست إفريقيا وحدها التي يتم تجاهلها”.

وتابع: “يبدو الأمر كما لو أنه لا يعني نفس القدر عندما تفوز بالبطولات التي لا تدر أكبر قدر من المال والتي لا تحظى بأكبر عدد من المتابعين”.

وعن تعيينه كمدرب للنادي الأهلي في أكتوبر 2020: “كانت الإدارة تريد مدربًا يعرف قارة إفريقيا جيدًا وخصوصا بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا وهزم الفرق التي احتاجوا إلى هزيمتها”.

وأضاف: “كان هناك استقبال كبير عند وصولي إلى القاهرة، وعندها فقط أدركت حجم المهمة التي تنتظرني في الأهلي، لا أعرف ما إذا كان هناك نادٍ آخر في العالم عليه الفوز بكل شيء مثل الأهلي، اعتقدت أن جماهير جنوب إفريقيا يحبون كرة القدم لكنهم لا يحبونها بقدر ما يحبها المصريون”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “قبل تدريب الأهلي، كان هناك أشخاص قد سألوني إذا كنت أرغب في تدريب أكبر فريق في إفريقيا والأكبر في الشرق الأوسط، وهذا أمر طبيعي لأن القارة الإفريقية مليئة بالمدربين الأجانب والفريق كان يدربه المصريون أو المدربون من أوروبا وأمريكا الجنوبية”.

واستمر: “لكن عندما تكون الإمكانيات متساوية ولدى الفريقين نفس قوة اللاعبين، فإننا نتغلب عليهم، لذا ربما يمكنني الحصول على مهمة لتدريب فريق في الدوري الأمريكي أو أعلى من ذلك، إذا دربت برشلونة أو مانشستر سيتي لن يكون سيئًا”.

وأكمل: “لكن التدريب في أوروبا ما زال حلمًا بعيدًا للمدربين أصحاب البشرة السوداء، ما بالك بالأفارقة، لقد تحدثت مع لاعبين سابقين ومميزين لكنهم يشعرون بأنهم محرومون من تلك الميزة ولا توجد فرص متاحة بسهولة عكس نظائرهم أصحاب البشرة البيضاء، هذه هي الحقيقة”.

وعن طموحاته مع الأهلي بعد فوزه ببطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا مرتين وكأس السوبر الإفريقي مرتين، ألمح لرغبته في الفوز ببطولة كأس العالم للأندية، مضيفًا: “لم تتبق أي بطولة قارية في إفريقيا لم أفز بها”.

وعن مواجهة بايرن ميونخ في البطولة السابقة: “لقد هزموا برشلونة 8-2، كنت قلقًا من مواجهتهم لأنه كان هناك ليونيل ميسي ولويس سواريز، إذا كان بإمكانهم فعل هذا بهم، فماذا سيفعلون معنا؟”.

وتابع: “لقد نجحنا في الفوز على بالميراس وحصدنا المركز الثالث، حصلت إفريقيا على ميدالية، لأنها في نسخة 2019 لم تفعل ذلك وهذا يعتبر إنجازا”.

وعن وجهته المحتملة بعد انتهاء عقده مع الأهلي: “ربما لن يكون توقيتًا مناسبًا لتدريب جنوب إفريقيا، ولكن ربما تكون هناك السنغال، نيجيريا، كوت ديفوار أو منتخب مصر، هذه هي المنتخبات القوية المعروفة في القارة”.

وكان الأهلي قد فاز بلقب دوري أبطال إفريقيا في عام 2021، إثر تغلبه على كايزر تشيفز الجنوب إفريقي بنتيجة 3-0 في المباراة النهائية.

ويشهد مونديال الأندية مشاركة كل من الجزيرة (بطل الدوري الإماراتي) – الأهلي (بطل دوري أبطال إفريقيا) – تشيلسي (بطل دوري أبطال أوروبا) – الهلال السعودي (بطل دوري أبطال آسيا) – مونتيري المكسيكي (بطل دوري أبطال الكونكاكاف) – أوكلاند سيتي النيوزيلندي (ممثل أوقيانوسيا) – بالميراس البرازيلي (بطل كوبا ليبرتادوريس).

Former Manchester United man Keith Gillespie has told Football FanCast that the club can afford to sell David de Gea this summer.

De Gea has been with United since 2011 and has gone on to make 434 appearances for the club.

However, this season, he has lost his place after a period of absence, with Dean Henderson playing in the last three top-flight games.

Henderson spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, enjoying an exceptional season, and has even won a cap for England.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has utilised the 24-year-old in various cup competitions, playing in the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Europa League.

Gillespie believes Henderson is good enough to step into de Gea’s shoes and believes that, as a result, United can cash in on the Spain international this summer.

He has been linked with a move away, with The Sun claiming earlier this month that PSG could make a summer swoop.

Speaking exclusively to FFC, Gillespie said: “De Gea has been fantastic for the period that he’s been there, I think now would probably be a good time to cash in and let him go.

“You have got somebody waiting to come in there, somebody who’s playing now, in Henderson. He did fantastically well last year at Sheffield United. He’s biding his time and when he has had to play, he’s done really well.

“He’s a young English goalkeeper, he could force his way in and be England number one if he gets that regular starting place at Man United.”

De Gea has enjoyed a storied career at Old Trafford, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League, while he has also been voted the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year four times during his United career.

He added: “David de Gea has been fantastic and I think four out of five seasons he won Man United’s Player of the Year, but that shows you how much work he had to do.

“That’s not something that would have happened under Alex Ferguson!”
