Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is keen for additions to bolster their chances at a genuine run at the title and this week, he’s been linked with a move for a former Ibrox star.

According to Football Insider, the Scottish giants have joined the race to clinch Josh Windass from Wigan Athletic this summer with his loan club Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough also in the hunt.
It’s claimed that the Gers are keen to bring him back to Glasgow just two years after he was sold on deadline day for £2.5m.
Meanwhile, leading talisman Alfredo Morelos is edging ever closer to an exit after Lille opened negotiations with Rangers over a record-breaking £17m deal, so a new threat is certainly going to be required in the attack.
Smart call?
Windass’ time in Scotland was pretty decent overall, providing 19 goals and 13 assists in 73 appearances, via Transfermarkt, and ultimately, he was a player that Gerrard didn’t want to let go in the first place.
The 26-year-old revealed in an interview with Open Goal, via the Scotsman, that the Rangers boss was keen to keep hold of him – “He basically said, ‘you’ve got a decision to make. The board have accepted this offer, I don’t want you to go but obviously it’s down to you’.”
Whilst the former Reds midfielder labelled Windass a “good boy” but claimed that he couldn’t guarantee him starts as a number nine, and now it appears that time may have arrived.
This season, the attacking maestro has split time between Wigan and the Owls, where he has netted seven goals from 25 matches whilst averaging 2 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game playing predominantly through the middle, via WhoScored.
Those at Ibrox know Windass all too well and given the uncertain future of Morelos, bringing back the former midfielder could be a wise decision for Ross Wilson to make.

O Campeonato Brasileiro feminino tem nesta quarta o início de sua segunda fase. A expectativa, acima de quaisquer resultados em campo, é que os acontecimentos bizarros da primeira fase não sejam repetidos nesta reta final. O mais grave dos casos diz respeito à ausência de médico nas comissões técnicas dos times envolvidos em sete dos 40 jogos, segundo levantamento da reportagem do LANCE!.
A pior consequência da ausência de médicos foi vista no jogo entre América-MG e Foz Cataratas. Leticia Cordeiro, jogadora do Foz, sofreu ruptura nos ligamentos de um dos joelhos. Um profissional que estava na única ambulância do estádio levou a atleta a um hospital. O jogo ficou paralisado por 46 minutos aguardando o retorno do veículo.
– Prestaram atendimento, não parecia ser médico, era um paramédico (enfermeiro, socorrista). Se tivesse ao menos um médico nas comissões técnicas, haveria tranquilidade, pois qualquer problema, contusão, acidente que ocorrer com a atleta, ela estará segura de ser atendida por pessoas capacitadas. Não tendo isso você fica à mercê do que tem por lá – afirmou Roberto Costa, técnico do Foz Cataratas, em entrevista ao LANCE!.
–Deveria ser obrigatória a presença de médicos como é no masculino. Tem campeonatos estaduais que nem é obrigatória a ambulância. Competições amadoras eles consideram que não precisa, mas isso é bem perigoso– completou.
América-MG e Tiradentes-PI (presentes na segunda fase) não apresentaram médico em nenhum jogo, segundo súmulas. Em contato com a CBF, os mineiros alegaram que não sabiam da necessidade, achando que a presença da ambulância bastaria. Oséias Canuto, presidente do clube piauiense, em contato com o LANCE!, negou a ausência de médico e não soube explicar o porquê de o nome do profissional não constar nas súmulas.
–É mentira que não temos médico nos nossos jogos como mandante. É difícil trabalhar com futebol amador, às vezes o médico não pode sair do plantão do hospital antes do horário, então chega atrasado. (…) É complicado esse negócio de ambulância, porque os preços são exorbitantes. Como 99% dos nossos sócios são militares, fizemos um acordo com o hospital da PM, aí eles mandam ambulância para os jogos– relatou Canuto.

Ao ser informado pela reportagem sobre a ausência de aparato médico em jogos do Brasileirão, Marco Aurélio Cunha, diretor de futebol feminino da CBF, prometeu entrar em contato com as agremiações para cobrar mudanças. Poucas horas depois, o dirigente retornou o telefonema para informar que já havia conversado com responsáveis pelo América-MG.
– Temos de orientar, mas sempre com tolerância. O regulamento é frio, mas quando você põe as questões didaticamente, as coisas vão melhorando – comentou Cunha.
– O que temos que entender é que certas coisas são imprescindíveis, como uma ambulância e um médico que possam servir as duas equipes. Vamos ficar de prontidão. Tenho certa tolerância com isso porque o futebol feminino carece de muito recurso. Depender só do socorrista da ambulância não é o que quero, até como médico não gostaria. Mas temos de entender a dificuldade dos clubes em compor uma comissão técnica – acrescentou.
Em tempo: os clubes mandantes recebem R$ 7 mil por jogo da empresa Sport Promotion, parceira da CBF, para custear despesas das mais diversas. Entre elas, o pagamento de um aparato médico.

FEDERAÇÕES ABREM MÃO DE AMBULÂNCIAS EM ESTADUAIS
Se a situação do Brasileirão ainda está longe da ideal, não é de se estranhar a precariedade por trás dos estaduais femininos. Algumas federações – casos da Mineira e da Paranaense, por exemplo – não obrigam os clubes mandantes a disponibilizarem ambulância nas partidas.
Em um desses jogos, o tamanho do problema ficou explícito: Ipatinga e Bola de Fogo se enfrentavam em Minas Gerais quando uma atleta do time visitante sofreu convulsão. Como não havia ambulância no local, tão pouco médicos nas comissões técnicas, uma pessoa que estava na arquibancada e se identificou como enfermeira teve de prestar os primeiros socorros à jogadora.
Em contato com o LANCE!, a Federação Mineira de Futebol explicou que não obriga os clubes a chamarem ambulância por se tratar de uma competição amadora. O Estatuto do Torcedor cobra presença do veículo em torneios profissionais.
Para uma competição esportiva ser considerada profissional, tem de haver contrato de trabalho. Tal vínculo pode ser fechado entre clube e jogadores (as) ou entre patrocinador do torneio e clubes. No caso do Brasileirão, por exemplo, apenas as jogadoras do Santos são registradas como profissionais.

Leeds United are back in the Premier League and while that is brilliant news for their fans and Marcelo Bielsa, now still comes the more difficult part – competing with the best teams in England week in, week out. The Argentine coach knows that no matter how good the Whites are, they might need reinforcements in order to survive or even thrive in what lies ahead.
According to a new report from Daily Mail, Leeds are among many teams who are showing interest in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher. Of course, the youngster is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge and has had a brilliant season for Swansea City in the Championship last campaign.
Now, however, the 20-year-old will have to discuss his immediate future with Frank Lampard but everything points towards another loan deal because the Blues don’t exactly want to lose him permanently.
Bielsa, on the other hand, is exploring various different ways of strengthening the squad ahead of the 2020/21 season with the midfield and defensive lines apparently taking the priority in the transfer market.
Daily Mail say Leeds have already enquired about the youngster but multiple Premier League and Championship sides have done the same thing so the competition might be tough and Gallagher and Chelsea spoiled for choice.
Leeds know what he can do since they saw him compete against them throughout 2019/20. Needless to say, he has impressed them enough to warrant such an interest.
But can they beat other rivals for his signature? We’ll have to wait and see.
Verdict
Gallagher is certainly one of Chelsea’s brightest young talents and has already shown he’s capable of performing well on a consistent basis. Of course, he’s far from a finished product but if someone can help mould him, then it’s Bielsa.
For that reason, this could indeed be a win-win situation for both sides if Leeds decide to take him on loan.

ونشر الموقع الرسمي لمانشستر يونايتد، تصريحات سولشاير وقال: “لوك شاو يشعر بتحسن، لقد كان مريضًا، ولكنه لا يزال يعاني من إصابته في الكتف، سيكون علينا أن نتخذ قرارًا بشأنه”.

قائمة غيابات مانشستر يونايتد تضم الإيفواري أماد ديالو، وهاري ماجواير الذي تعرض لإصابة في الساق ضد أستون فيلا يوم السبت الماضي.
وأتم سولشاير: “هاري ماجواير وأماد سيغيبان عن المباراة؛ لم تكن هناك إصابات جديدة يوم الأربعاء (أمام فياريال)”.

The Tottenham faithful were unlucky last season and missed out on a Champions League spot, but did qualify for Europa League football for next season.
The next campaign will be Jose Mourinho’s first full season since joining the club in November last year, and will likely be making a few signings during the transfer window to make the squad his own.
In an interview with Sky Sports back in May – Mourinho stated that he didn’t feel Tottenham were going to have a very big transfer budget this window due to the impact of COVID-19, stating that himself and Tottenham would be sensible, balanced, and won’t be spending rivers of money – which is understandable given the current financial situation.
Despite this omission, the club will still likely make some signings to try and bolster their squad – with the Lillywhites already adding Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Joe Hart to the squad, but who else could the club realistically sign this summer?
Min-jae Kim
The 23-year-old defender has been in fine form for Chinese Super League club Beijing Sinobo Guoan – and has been linked with a move to Tottenham as a replacement for Jan Vertonghen, with a £15 million transfer after having two bids rejected by the Chinese club. Kim has been dubbed as the ‘South Koren Van Dijk’ – and has even been nicknamed “monster” due to his stature and aggressive style of play and physical strength.
Last season Kim averaged 1.3 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, and 3.2 clearances per game, as well as winning 1.8 aerial duels per game – and would be a great addition to Mourinho’s squad, with fellow countryman Heung-min Son already at the club.
Mehmet Zeki Çelik
The Turkish right-back has been linked with a move to the North London club over recent weeks, with reports even suggesting that the club are looking to sell Serge Aurier and Juan Foyth to raise the funds for the 23-year-old – with the sale of Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton also leaving a void in the options for a right-back.
After 23 league appearances, Zeki Çelik has averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, and 1.4 clearances per game, as well as registering 2 assists. It has been reported that the player would cost between €20-25 million, meaning that the sales of the aforementioned plays would be helpful to raise those much-needed funds.
Ivan Perisic
After reports emerged at the end of July that Tottenham had opened talks with Inter Milan over the transfer of Tanguy Ndombélé, attention instantly turned to the availability of Ivan Perisic.
The Croatian winger is said to be admired by Mourinho, with the manager even trying to sign him during his time at Manchester United. Perisic has been on loan at Bayern Munich this season, and has 4 goals and 3 assists to his name in the league – but it is his form in the Champions League that has impressed the most.
The winger has 3 goals and 3 assists in 8 games – and has helped steer the club to the semi-finals of the competition. At 31-years-old, Perisic would bring a great amount of experience and quality for the young players in Spurs’ side.
David Brooks
Bournemouth’s relegation has meant that many of their best players will likely leave the club this summer – and Spurs have reportedly said they ‘admire’ the player, and Daniel Levy is ready to offer the south coast club £10 million for the Welsh midfielder.
Brooks had an injury stinted season this year, but the season before last showed the talent and potential he has – with 7 goals and 5 assists from midfield. The player would be a great fit for Tottenham, bringing some needed youth and ambition into the side, but Bournemouth won’t be wanting to lose the youngster any time soon.
Timothy Castagne
Another option at right-back, the 24-year-old joined Italian side Atalanta in 2017 and has gone on to help the club reach astronomical heights for the small city of Bergamo.
Atalanta finished third last season in Serie A, and at one point were contending for the Scudetto – the club also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in the club’s first time in the competition. Castagne is a versatile player as well, having played in four different positions for the club this season.
The player himself reportedly stated he wouldn’t be able to turn down a move to Spurs, with Atalanta valuing the player at around £18 million.
