Leeds fans attack club over free ticket offer for Bolton fixture

Leeds fans have found yet another reason to bash the club after a special offer revealed free tickets for the home match with Bolton Wanderers.

Fans at Elland Road haven’t had much to cheer about since Christmas, as the side has gone from battling for playoff places to battling just to stay away from the relegation scrap.

Their home form has been particularly atrocious recently, wining just one of their last six clashes at Elland Road. Paul Heckingbottom’s appointment has had the complete opposite effect it was intended to.

Now, in an effort to lift fans spirits, the club have offered all season ticket holders the chance to “bring a friend” to this month’s Friday night clash with Bolton for free.

Needless to say, the fans have seen pretty quickly through this harmless piece of marketing, wondering why the club would even bother now the season is over.

Plenty of fans seem to think taking a friend to see the current Leeds side would be a curse not a blessing, while others are just using it as another chance to attack the club and its ownership.

West Ham striker Jordan Hugill out to prove a point to David Moyes vs Dagenham

West Ham United striker Jordan Hugill has told whufc.com that the friendly match against Dagenham & Redbridge on Wednesday night is the ideal opportunity for him to prove to manager David Moyes that he is ready to help the club in their battle for survival in the Premier League.

The Irons brought the centre-forward to the London Stadium in a £10m deal from Championship club Preston North End on January 31 after Diafra Sakho and Andre Ayew departed, but he has played just 12 minutes of top flight football since then in the five matches he has been available for, with his own fans since describing his signing as pointless.

The likes of Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez have been preferred up top, but with those two both on international duty Hugill is likely to get the nod against Dagenham, and it is a chance to impress that the 25-year-old is relishing.

The Hammers’ number 17 told whufc.com: “For me, this game is perfect because it gives me a platform to show the coaching staff what I can do and that, if I’m called upon, I’m going to be ready for it.

“Hopefully I’ll do well and if I do the right things on the pitch, it’ll put myself at the forefront of the manager’s mind and show I am ready for it.”

Three straight defeats by three-goal margins have left Moyes’ men just one place and two points above the relegation zone ahead of the potentially season-defining clash against the side below them – Southampton – at the London Stadium on March 31.

Newcastle fans annoyed by Mitrović comments

Newcastle fans are not impressed by Aleksandar Mitrović, after the Serbian striker said he was desperate to leave Newcastle.

The loan of Aleksandar Mitrović to Fulham seemed a strange decision at the time, with the Magpies struggling for goals and a lack of replacements available in the transfer market.

Islam Slimani was brought in on loan from Leicester, but the Algerian only made his debut last weekend due to an ongoing thigh problem.

Mitrović has been absolutely flying in the Championship for Fulham, grabbing eight goals in nine starts, and the 23 year-old says he needed to leave Newcastle.

“From the first minute here (at Fulham), I adapted really fast and my team-mates have helped me a lot. I feel good to play every game on the pitch so I hope that we’ll be able to fight for automatic promotion for the rest of the season,” Mitrović said.

“I needed to leave Newcastle because I needed game time and needed games in my legs and I was desperate to play football, to be on the pitch, to score goals.”

Scoring goals certainly hasn’t been a problem for the Serbian since the move, and fans haven’t been able to decide if he deserves another chance on Tyneside next season.

These latest comments won’t exactly help his cause though, and fans have often felt that he does not work hard enough to function in Rafael Benitez’s system.

Newcastle fans heap more misery on Sunderland

Newcastle fans are mercilessly mocking Sunderland after yet another late goal put the Black Cats on the brink of relegation to League One.

While most of the footballing world was enjoying an incredible night of Champions League football, Newcastle fans were reveling in the misery of their arch-rivals, as Norwich equalised late against Sunderland.

Chris Coleman’s side looked to be heading towards a huge win that would have left them just four points adrift of safety, but Ivo Pinto’s late goal levelled the scores, leaving the Black Cats’ survival hopes dangling by the thinnest of threads.

Sunderland took the lead through George Honeyman, and will be ruing the missed opportunity after Aiden McGeady missed a first half penalty.

Newcastle fans were of course tortured plenty by their Wearside foes last season, but bounced straight back up from the Championship at their first attempt.

Sunderland haven’t had quite the same luck, and now look almost certain to record back to back relegations.

It’s fair to say Newcastle fans are enjoying their rival’s downfall, and some of the best Twitter reactions can be found below…

Chelsea have made the first move in EXCITING summer transfer deal

As reported by The Daily Mail, Chelsea have made initial enquiries to Nice about the prospect of signing their star midfielder Jean Michael Seri this summer.

What’s the story?

The Blues are expected to have a busy transfer window with the possibility of a new manager taking charge and a lacklustre season meaning there could be plenty comings and goings.

One player the club are interested in is Jean Michael Seri, currently at Ligue 1 side Nice.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, who say Chelsea have already asked the French side about a potential transfer, with the release clause in his contract set at £34.8m.

Will he end up at Stamford Bridge come the new season?

A good buy?

With the club not expected to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next term, signing the elite talent they’re used to may not be feasible this summer and finding talent who can learn and grow to that level is likely to be their strategy.

Seri may not have performed in the group stages of the big European competition but he has experience in the Europa League and in Ligue 1 has proven to be a consistent top performer.

Nice in general are under-performing this term but last season he scored seven goals, also creating 10 assists, showing himself to be a midfield all-rounder with the ability to attack and defend.

Strong and athletic, he would likely be able to cope with the pace of the Premier League and with technical passing ability too, would fit in well at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal fans can’t wait to have Cazorla back after injury

The impending departure of Arsene Wenger added an extra dimension to Arsenal’s match with Atletico Madrid on Thursday night and despite the Gunners producing a performance of impressive tempo, desire and creativity, they still contrived to leave the back door open for Antoine Griezmann to net an away goal.

That means that they travel to face a side famed for their imperious home record needing at least one goal to force their way into the Europa League final and keep alive their hopes of giving Wenger a glorious farewell.

It also means that there is an argument to suggest that the most exciting aspect the evening’s work was a glimpse of playmaker Santi Cazorla running through some drills on the Emirates pitch prior to kick off.

The diminutive playmaker – valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt – has been sorely missed by the Gunners and their fans were keen to let him know that as they get more and more excited about his return…

Newcastle fans want Mitrovic back over Slimani

Newcastle fans are reconsidering the futures of Islam Slimani and Aleksandar Mitrovic, after the Algerian international did a great Mitrovic impression on Saturday.

When Aleksandar Mitrovic was loaned out to Fulham in January, pretty much everyone in Newcastle knew why.

The Serbian striker certainly has talent, but his lack of discipline just could not be trusted, especially with a fight for Premier League survival to come.

Mitrovic showed exactly why that decision was taken in his side’s recent win over Millwall, and fans were certain his Newcastle career was over as he swung an elbow at Millwall’s Tim Cahill.

However, Islam Slimani was brought in as a January replacement for Mitrovic, and the towering Algerian could now miss the rest of the season after kicking out at West Brom’s Craig Dawson.

With Slimani brought in primarily due to the lack of trust in Mitrovic, fans are now leaning towards Mitrovic for who they want up front next season.

Both players now have question marks over their discipline and attitude, but only one of them is scoring goals.

Rangers fans are glad they don’t have to watch Russell Martin anymore

Rangers have failed to finish in second place in the Scottish Premiership again after rivals Aberdeen won at Celtic Park and the Light Blues drew 5-5 in a dramatic game against Hibernian at Easter Road.

In what was undoubtedly the best game of the entire season in the Scottish top-flight, Rangers were both impressive in attack and woeful in defence, which is actually rather fitting considering how their season as a whole has gone.

Fans were frustrated with the performance and result, but did find one silver lining – the fact they may not have to see Russell Martin in their defensive line anymore.

The player’s loan deal is up now it’s the end of the season and he hasn’t exactly made himself a fan favourite since joining from Norwich City in January after a series of dismal performances.

Supporters are hoping the arrival of Steven Gerrard will see effective signings being made in defence this summer, given it is the weakest area of their team by far.

They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on what could be Martin’s last game for the club…

Man United outcast Daley Blind should be Manuel Pellegrini’s first West Ham signing

According to reports in The Sun, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is ready to sell £14m-rated Dutch defender Daley Blind as part of a huge summer clear-out, and Premier League rivals West Ham United should move to snap him up.

What’s the word, then?

Soccer Football – Premier League – Manchester United vs Watford – Old Trafford, Manchester, Britain – May 13, 2018 Manchester United’s Daley Blind in action with Watford’s Gerard Deulofeu Action Images via Reuters/Jason Cairnduff EDITORIAL USE ONLY. Well, The Sun says that after a trophy-less season Mourinho is ready to move the deadwood out of his squad, with Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian all set to go alongside Blind, who earns £75,000-a-week according to the Daily Mail.

The Sun says that Mourinho will be able to spend all of the money he receives from incoming transfers this summer, and the 28-year-old Netherlands international is rated at £14m by the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, West Ham United are set to appoint Manuel Pellegrini, whom Irons fans on Twitter are keen to see link up with £140,000-a-week attacker next season, as their new manager and may make some big changes in the transfer market themselves this summer, with the centre-back, left-back and left wing-back positions specific areas that could be prioritised for new signings.

How did Blind do this season?

It was a tough campaign for the Dutchman, who fell completely out of favour under Mourinho at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old only made 17 appearances in all competitions – with six of those coming in the Champions League and with just 360 minutes of playing time in the Premier League – as he found himself behind the likes of Ashley Young and Luke Shaw in the pecking order for the left-back spot.

The versatile player can play as a left-back, left wing-back, centre-back and defensive midfielder, and that fact and the quality he has means he could be in demand this summer.

Would he be a good signing for West Ham?

He certainly would.

Blind is hugely experienced and the fact that he can play in so many positions is a huge plus.

The 28-year-old would certainly be considered by many to be an upgrade on Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku in those positions on the left-hand side of the pitch – whether it be centre-back, full-back or wing-back – and the fact that he could be available for just £14m in this day and age mean that the east London club should waste no time in snapping him up as Pellegrini’s first signing.

Revealed: 82% of Rangers supporters want to get rid of Bruno Alves this summer

Rangers supporters are hugely in favour of trying to get rid of Bruno Alves this summer, after he was linked with a move away from Ibrox earlier this week.

The Daily Record reported that Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes were interested in signing him in the upcoming transfer window.

Alves earns a reported £28,000-a-week, which is an enormous wage in the context of the Rangers squad, but in 2017/18 failed to show the kind of form that satisfied fans, part of a dreadful defensive line that conceded more goals than any other in the Scottish Premiership top six.

Fans have grown more and more frustrated with him ever since he was signed by Pedro Caixinha and it appears they are not at breaking point with the World Cup star.

A massive 82% of respondents to a poll we published earlier this week want Rangers to axe him this summer.

With a year left on his contract, can they now find a club willing to take him off their hands?
