Real Madrid fans want Gareth Bale out of the team

Gareth Bale’s story at Real Madrid is quite interesting.

He was one of those players that was just a single step away from actually leaving the Spanish capital for good, but in the end he stayed and played a small part in their ongoing campaign.

The very first couple of games were rather good, actually.

Bale scored two goals and assisted further two but then the injuries returned and he has been sitting on his tally of seven games played across all competitions for a while now.

Interestingly enough, it seems that the 30-year-old star has returned to training with his national team and many of Real Madrid fans didn’t really take it that well.

Upon seeing him fit and happy for Wales, they immediately stated that he should leave the club and that he’s only at Real for the money, slamming the star for his disrespectful behaviour in the process.

You can see some of their replies down in the collection of tweets below:

West Ham’s Ajibola Alese is making encouraging strides at Accrington Stanley

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Loan Watch series, which takes a closer look at those players who are aiming to galvanise their careers away from the spotlight of their parent club.

The 2019/20 campaign is turning out to be a monumental one for 18-year-old West Ham United centre-back Ajibola Alese.

He has taken his first steps into senior football, courtesy of a loan spell at Accrington Stanley, while he has also represented England at U19 level.

The recent international break saw the academy product make his third appearance at that level for his country, keeping his 100% win record going as he played the first half of a 4-0 victory over Luxembourg.

Patience was required from the defender when he first arrived at Accrington Stanley.

His only appearance from the first five games he was available came in the form of a 28 minute substitute appearance in a 3-1 defeat against Sunderland, with all the goals being scored before he came on.

Though after a spell of four games on the bench, there are early signs that Alese is beginning to make strides at The Crown Ground as he looks to keep Accrington in League One.

The period started with a 23 minute substitute appearance in a 2-0 win against high-flyers Ipswich Town before the teenager went on to start three games in a row.

His latest league start, in a 0-0 draw against Coventry City, showed how indomitable he can be, as only Jerome Opoku got higher than the teenager’s WhoScored rating of 7.9.

This is representative of a performance that saw Alese win 4 aerial duels, as well as making 4 tackles, 8 clearances and 4 interceptions.

If he carries on producing performances like this, especially when it is his first season in senior football, this could turn out to be a monumental campaign for Alese.

Three strikers that would fix Everton’s goalscoring woes

Everton’s season is not going according to plan at the moment.

The Toffees are sitting in 15th place in the Premier League table and are experiencing some problems across the pitch. But one area they should definitely strengthen as soon as possible is their final third.

Without too much exaggeration, the Blues are extremely poor in and around the opposition’s box. After all, they have just 13 goals in 12 games in the domestic league, while their top-scorer is Dominic Calvert-Lewin with only three strikes under his belt.

Needless to say, changes have to be made and someone should be brought in, even if it means breaking the bank just a little bit in the process.

So without further ado, here are three forwards that Everton should target to solve their goalscoring woes…

Domenico Berardi – Sassuolo

Berardi sounds like a reliable option that would not be out of reach for the Toffees.

Everton primarily need someone lethal in front of goal and the 25-year-old Italian winger can be exactly that. So far, he has scored seven goals and assisted two in the ten Serie A games he’s played in 2019/20.

Not to mention that he is fairly flexible and can be deployed both as a winger and a striker, having shifted through those positions throughout his career, as per the games Transfermarkt have in their database.

Currently, he’s valued at £21.6m and would be coming from a smaller club, which should definitely put him in Everton’s price range.

Victor Osimhen – Lille

Osimhen is fairly young, granted, but even at the tender age of 20, this Nigerian prodigy is already setting the stage ablaze.

Of course, he’s not yet as hyped up as some other young talents out there, but that can only be a good thing for the Toffees since his price hasn’t skyrocketed…yet.

But as far as his output goes, he can tango with the best of them as he has already scored nine goals and assisted two in 17 matches played across all competitions for Lille this season.

This includes two strikes in the Champions League, not to mention that he’s been capped eight times for Nigeria, scoring four goals in the process as well.

Osimhen seems almost destined to turn into a star and if Everton want to get ahead of the pack, they better move quickly.

Sardar Azmoun – FC Zenit

Our final pick will be a wildcard but one that could very well pay off if utilised properly. The 24-year-old Zenit forward is a young and prolific striker currently plying his trade in the Russian Premier League.

With nine goals and six assists across all competitions to his name in the ongoing campaign, Azmoun is very much lethal in front of goal and excellent at heading the ball – WhoScored list one of his main strengths as his ability to win aerial duels.

Although young, he’s got plenty of experience, both on club and international level – seeing how he’s already bagged 31 goals in just 46 games for Iran.

Again, rated at £15.3m by Transfermarkt, he should be within Everton’s financial reach. The big question, inevitably, is whether Azmoun has what it takes to maintain his goalscoring exploits in the Premier League.

Spurs would be foolish to renew Michel Vorm’s deal

Michel Vorm arguably symbolises the kind of the mess that Tottenham have found themselves in this season.

The north London side find themselves seven points off fourth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League, whilst of course they went through the turmoil of getting rid of Mauricio Pochettino, and appointing Jose Mourinho as his replacement.

Vorm in particular was let go last summer, but following the injury sustained by Hugo Lloris earlier in the season, was brought in as emergency cover.

The Dutchman would then go on to make his only telling contribution in a Spurs shirt with a mistake-ridden performance against Norwich in the FA Cup, that saw the Lilywhites exit the competition in embarrassing fashion to a newly-promoted side.

It was no surprise that following his howler against the Canaries, Vorm was torn to shreds by many Spurs fans after the match.

His current deal with the club means he will only be on Spurs’ books for the rest of the season, so the north Londoners will once again have to make a decision on his long-term future.

The man originally brought into the club by Pochettino is quite simply a drain on resources, and taking up a spot in the first-team squad that could quite easily be given to an emerging talent from the academy.

They gave him his first chance by signing him in the first-place, gave him a second chance by signing him as cover, and now they really must ensure they don’t fall into the same trap a third time by extending his deal.

He may only be a back-up, but as he showed in that game against Norwich, he simply isn’t up to the required level to play for Spurs in any competition.

Meanwhile, Spurs must beat the competition to sign this French starlet.

Patrick Bamford has been costing Leeds

Patrick Bamford’s Leeds United career has very much been divisive. The Marcelo Bielsa favourite has scored goals on paper but still hasn’t impressed supporters.

Those at Elland Road have regularly slammed his antics – that being his misfortune in front of the onion bag. This is despite his tally of 13 for the season.

Some of the choice words used at the 26-year-old including, “imposter”, “liability” and even “fraud”, so it can be argued that his record only tells half the story.

The Greatest Bargains in Premier League history – How much did they cost?

World Class score: 95% | Expert score: 80% | Veteran score: 65% | Intermediate score: 45% | Amateur score: 30% | Try Again: 5%

In reality, the 6 foot 1 frontman has been diabolical in front of goal. If you bear in mind that he has only missed one league outing all season, the Whites possess the third-worst record for chance conversion.

Leeds have managed to convert a measly 13.6% of their 412 attempts at goal this season.

Bamford cost the west Yorkshiremen a whopping £10m on top of his reported £40k-per-week wages, so arguably he’s struggled to fully justify such hefty finances.

Having been at the club for just over 87 weeks, £13.5m has been ploughed into the former Boro frontman – that’s the accumulative spend of the star’s fee and wages in that time.

Given fans at Leeds regularly take fire at him and the sheer number of chances he puts to waste, they’ve hardly got their money’s worth, especially as he was their club-record signing in the Andrea Radrizzani era – until Helder Costa’s move becomes permanent, at least.

The Italian chief-in-command has had his pockets rinsed dry by Bamford over the past 18 months or so, and if promoted to the Premier League, those involved would be wise to find another striker to lead the line as his record in the top-flight is particularly dire – just one goal in 27 attempts.

This transfer move has been daylight robbery because, in reality, the former Chelsea product could have had triple the amount of goals scored this season and he’s hardly struck a chord with the people that pay his wages – those in the stands.

Spurs fans ponder Erik Lamela future after Alasdair Gold tweet

Loads of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been pondering the future of winger Erik Lamela this week after reliable Football.London reporter Alasdair Gold penned an article about the long-serving Argentine.

The 28-year-old has been at the club since 2013 and has racked up 214 appearances but in recent times, his presence on the pitch has been limited due to niggling and persistent injuries.

The single toughest football logo quiz of all time…

World Class score: 95% | Expert score: 80% | Veteran score: 65% | Intermediate score: 45% | Amateur score: 30% | Try Again: 5%

This campaign Lamela has only averaged 51 minutes per game from a total of 27 matches, contributing to ten goals, via Transfermarkt.

Gold believes Spurs would be playing with fire if they were to sell the wide man in the summer as he’s an important squad player with a point to prove.

Some supporters in north London were of the same opinion, whilst others would like to see the club get rid of him as soon as possible.

Jose Mourinho has plenty of wing options to call upon, including January arrival Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura, Heung-min Son and Ryan Sessegnon – in addition to Lamela.

Newcastle fans react to Craig Hope takeover update

Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the latest takeover news on social media as the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope provided a fresh update.

He claims that the Premier League is set to revamp their directors and owners test in light of the moral, political and legal difficulties presented by the Saudi-backed proposed takeover of the Magpies.

However, Hope also suggests that a decision could extend into next week but the deal is still likely to be approved due to current limitations over the test.

It’s been over a month since reports first emerged and the longer it takes to complete, the more some supporters are beginning to doubt it even happening.

Saudi Arabia’s involvement has come with controversy and opposition, but many at St James’ Park are merely desperate to see someone else in charge of the club – they can only dream of Mike Ashley leaving after a torrid 13 years at the helm.

Newcastle have suffered mediocrity for far too long and this prospective deal could bring them a new lease of life.

Luke Edwards claim on Newcastle takeover delay

It was widely reported on Monday evening that Newcastle United’s prospective takeover had hit yet another hitch, thus delaying its imminent announcement. The Guardian believe new legal documents have been passed to the Premier League which raise “fresh questions” about the Magpies’ Saudi-backed £300m takeover. It means that any decision to approve the deal, involving the likes of Mohamed bin Salman, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers, will be pushed back again.Luke Edwards of the Telegraph has responded to the claims with one of his own, seemingly confirming such rumours, he said:

However, his comments are a little more encouraging as he hints that it doesn’t necessarily mean there’s new proof to put a halt to the takeover and the final call ultimately lies with the top-flight big wigs, who earlier this week were focused on ‘Project Restart’.

Who the heck is that?! Can you name all 25 of these obscure Newcastle signings…

Only time will tell whether the northeast giants will finally be taken over, but understandably, there’s now an air of doubt amongst the St James’ Park faithful.

All they can do is sit back and wait.

Alasdair Gold reveals why Troy Parrott could play a lot more

According to Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold, Tottenham starlet Troy Parrott could see a lot more first-team action due to a proposed change to the Premier League’s rules.

What did he say?

With English football gearing up for a restart next month, one of the potential talking points has surrounded whether the Premier League will allow for an increase to the usual three substitutions that you can make during a match, as a result of maintaining player fitness.

And now, Gold has suggested that if the rule does get tweaked, then Parrott could indeed be one of the main beneficiaries, so as long as he impresses Jose Mourinho during these upcoming weeks.

Is it Mido or Pedro Mendes? This Spurs quiz will separate the loyal from the fake…

World Class score: 95% | Expert score: 80% | Veteran score: 65% | Intermediate score: 45% | Amateur score: 30% | Try Again: 5%

He said: “You’d hope so. Much depends on how much he impresses Mourinho during these weeks before the season resumes, if it does.

“The Spurs boss likes to make a point and if he still feels the young Irishman isn’t ready then he won’t hesitate to show that and Parrott has to get on the bench in the first place with a fully fit set of attacking options.”

Opportunity

If clubs are allowed to make five substitutes, then Parrott will surely have no better chance to showcase his potential to Mourinho than now.

The Spurs boss will have greater scope to be more flexible with the way he uses his players off the bench, and that should allow Parrott the opportunity to get on to the pitch more often.

Of course, the latest injury news on the striker suggests that he will miss the start of the Premier League’s restart, but the north Londoners have confirmed that he will be returning to training later in June.

Once he gets back to full fitness, it will be up to Parrott to show why Mourinho deserves to trust him more.

Arsenal: David Ornstein believes club are intensifying pursuit of Thomas Partey

Arsenal supporters are hopeful that reports suggesting the Gunners are heavily interested in Thomas Partey are true, and David Ornstein’s latest update will have them very excited.

Writing for The Athletic, Ornstein has said that the Gunners are interested in the defensive midfielder. He has also provided a very big update as he has written that they are intensifying their pursuit of Partey as they see him as a crucial transfer before the 2020/21 campaign.

This comes after it was announced that youngster Bukayo Saka penned a new contract at the Emirates.

Partey is contracted at Atletico until 2023 but will leave this summer if his £47m release clause is triggered, according to La Razon (via Daily Express).

He has been a rock in front of the defence as he has managed two successful tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game, whilst also averaging 1.9 successful dribbles a game, per WhoScored.

At the age of 27, he could be perfect for Arsenal for the next few years and could help the attacking talent around him have more freedom as he would surely add steel to the midfield.

For the Gunners, the deal seems like a no-brainer and with this big update from Ornstein, fans will get very excited as to what the transfer window can bring for the club.
